His landmark studies, published by UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education, include: The Implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence for Education and Curriculum, Critical Thinking and Generative Artificial Intelligence, and Pedagogy for Deep Thinking in the Age of Sound Bites, all of which have been adopted into teacher training programs globally.
Dr. Hughes has held key roles from director of education to campus principal, leading initiatives such as the Universal Learning Programme, the establishment of a cutting-edge STEM Center, and the decolonization of school curricula. As director general, he instituted a policy on generative AI, and implemented the foundation's 2024–2030 strategic plan.
