Conrad Hughes - Shaping Global Education Using AI and Equity

Conrad Hughes is an educational leader, thought leader, and author whose work has influenced the course of 21st-century learning. Over the years, he has combined academic rigor with practical reforms. As the head of school for the International School of Los Angeles and the former director general of the International School of Geneva, Conrad Hughes has been instrumental in shaping education policy and culture at some of the world's most prominent international institutions.

Conrad Hughes is a leading voice in the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into education. His landmark studies, published by UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education, include: The Implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence for Education and Curriculum, Critical Thinking and Generative Artificial Intelligence, and Pedagogy for Deep Thinking in the Age of Sound Bites, all of which have been adopted into teacher training programs globally.

Dr. Hughes has held key roles from director of education to campus principal, leading initiatives such as the Universal Learning Programme, the establishment of a cutting-edge STEM Center, and the decolonization of school curricula. As director general, he instituted a policy on generative AI, and implemented the foundation's 2024–2030 strategic plan.
